China has always maintained continuity and stability in its policy toward the US, regardless of how the situation evolves, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday, when meeting with a delegation led by Rajesh Subramaniam, board chair of the US-China Business Council (USCBC), in Beijing.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that the world is currently in a turbulent era, and China-US relations are both influenced by global instability and playing a profound role in shaping the evolving international landscape, according to a statement released by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
China is willing to strengthen engagement with the US, avoid misjudgments, manage differences, and explore cooperation, Wang said, noting that the Chinese side is committed to implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state and promoting the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-US relations.
Wang said that the two sides should establish more channels for communication and consultation, view each other with objectivity, rationality, and pragmatism, and foster a correct strategic perception. It is essential to respect each other's core interests and major concerns, and to avoid confrontation and conflict, the Chinese foreign minister said.
Guided by the principles of mutual respect, equality, and reciprocity, both sides should refrain from unilateralism and power politics, and instead focus on doing more things that are meaningful, practical, and beneficial to both countries and the world, said Wang.
In the first half of this year, China's economy has made steady progress despite challenges, Wang noted, adding that China will further expand high-level opening-up and foster a world-class business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized. "We look forward to continued optimism and investment from US companies in China, so as to achieve mutual benefit and shared growth," said Wang.
Wang also extended his hope for the US business community to serve as interpreters of a proper understanding of China, as promoters of people-to-people friendship between China and the US, and as practitioners of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Executives from several US companies, including Thermo Fisher Scientific, Otis Worldwide Corporation, Goldman Sachs and Boeing, participated in the event, according to the statement from the ministry.
The US executives reaffirmed their commitment to the Chinese market, with plans to expand cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and technological innovation, and to actively participate in China's high-quality development process, the statement said.
The USCBC also expressed its willingness to actively leverage its influence to expand bilateral economic and trade cooperation, strengthen people-to-people exchanges, enhance mutual understanding, and help steer US-China relations toward a stronger,

China's Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with the US business delegation, during which he urged the US to work in the same direction with China to maintain the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-US economic and trade relations.
